I just had an abcess drained today. I told my doctor I had the bump under my arm for a few months so that my insurance would cover it. I truly have had the bump for several years and was told by another doctor that it was a calcium deposit and would need it removed- I was too scared to have it removed back then and did not have insurance for the last few years. My question is: Is it possible that the infection could have spread to other parts of my body in the last few years and should I tell my doctor so that he can perform other tests? The abcess did not begin to grow or pus until two days ago.
